Why I am running

Eight years ago, when my family was looking for a great school district and community to raise our son, we found Crystal Lake and District 47. Not long after moving to Crystal Lake, I was also able to bring my skills as a Pediatrician to our much loved community. Over the years I have enjoyed visiting and volunteering at District 47 schools. Each evening at the dinner table, I looked forward to hearing about what was happening at school. I was repeatedly impressed by the creativity and dedication of our teachers.

Although I was involved with my child’s school as a parent and volunteer, I didn’t start regularly attending school board meetings until 2020. As a Pediatrician and a parent of a child in the district I took an interest in how our schools were navigating the pandemic. One of the things that I discovered while attending these meetings is that there are people in our community attempting to undermine the trust that we have put in our teachers and our schools.

I have learned in speaking with other parents is that the majority of them want their children to attend schools that celebrate diversity and support inclusion.

 I care deeply about the well being of our community and want to see our public schools thrive. Together we will create a bright future of all of our kids!
